Leosandria

Leosandria is a colony city of Zaragoza on the northern shore of the Southern Continent of Kylma. It has flourished as a trading settlement willing to do business with anyone and everyone from the Old Empire to the east to the Crimson Coast to the West. Healthy business is carried out with the Hugond Nomads and even the Ice Orcs whom arrive under the Midwinter Truce.  In Leosandria, merchants from the Divine Empire trade with Old Empire colleagues and even those of the Higher Races. The major rule is that, like in Zarazoa, there are no slaves in Leosandria; as such many a fleeing serf or bondsman has made their home there.

The city was founded by an ancestor of the current Duke of Zaragoza as a location to send off annoying siblings and family ‘black sheep’ that where too connected to ‘disappear’ but where too annoying to keep in Zaragoza.  Surprisingly they flourished and Leosandria grew. Nine years ago, Felix, the brother of the Duke of Zaragoza was appointed governor after he failed to unseat his sibling in the Equinox Election. It was better for all that he relocated and Leosandria was ideal. Felix would have made a good Duke of Zaragoza but instead made an excellent governor of Leosandria. He was married off to Lisabé, the illegitimate daughter of Duke of Epave to secure good relations and keep him from marrying a more influential bride within the successor states. In another surprise, there marriage blossomed and they seemed to have a genuine care for each other with the birth of a son, Leo, and a daughter, Nânette. Just over five year ago Felix was murdered by unknown assassins and a new governor was sent by Duke Leo of Zaragoza. Lisabé feared for herself and her children; she declared herself ruller and secured the backing of the locals and of her father, Duke Rankin of Epave. Since then a stalemate has existed with trade and commerce continuing as usual but with Leosandria acting as it sees fit. Lady Lisabé has been careful not to offend or embarrass Duke Leo but has chartered her own, successful, path.

Within the city are a company of Blood Isler mercenaries, loyal to Lisabé, and a force of Hugond horse that patrol the lands around the city. By treaty, Leosandria has the lands within a day’s walk of the city which equates to roughly 15 miles. Beyond the markers are the Hugond tribal lands which are left in peace and respected. Lisabé’s mother is Hugond and her mixed heritage has, in this case, been a blessing. The City’s naval squadron is manned by a mixed body of men though the admiral is a Kaegorian by birth.
